About Preloss
Know what you own. Before you need to prove it.
Most people only think about their home inventory after something has gone wrong: a fire, a flood, a break-in. By then, reconstructing an accurate list of what you owned, what it was worth, and when you bought it is nearly impossible.
Why Preloss exists
This work is personal for us. Friends of ours lost their homes in the Palisades Fire and the Marshall Fire. The fires themselves were only the beginning. What came after was weeks of sitting down with insurers and trying to reconstruct, from memory, a list of everything they had owned. Receipts were gone. Photos were scattered. The mental load on a family already in crisis was enormous.
The hard part is that the documentation problem is solvable, but only before the disaster, not after. Preloss is the tool we wished our friends had had on a normal Tuesday: a few minutes of video becomes a timestamped record of everything they owned, ready if they ever needed it.
Our mission is simple: help families be ready. So when something goes wrong, the documentation work is already done.
What Preloss does
You record a short video walkthrough of each room. Preloss extracts frames from the video and uses AI vision models to identify items, assembling a timestamped PDF inventory with estimated replacement-value ranges. A SHA-256 hash of the evidence is anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain via OpenTimestamps, creating independently verifiable proof of when the documentation was created.
The result is a record you create before a loss, not one you piece together afterward from memory and old photos.
